Christian Bands of the 70's - 80's

This may mirror Michael's blog a little, but when he was asking about bands from the past I started daydreaming about Christian bands. My precious moments of being blessed by certain groups or soloist still give me chills, tears, or sadness when I hear them or think about them. I truly miss Keith Green, John Michael Talbot, Maranatha Singers, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Sandi Patti, David Meece, Dallas Holmes & Praise, Squier Parsons, even the Gold City Boys.
Local groups that blessed me were Tim & Terri Abel , Bob McCleod, JILOA, New Creation, uhhh...I'm suffering from a block at the moment. Can you guys name some of the Christian Artist that I'm forgetting? Also, do you remember a male duet group by the name of "Harvest" that played often in Alabama back in 1984? I'm trying to find their music.

Yes! I forgot all about them. I've got their tape put up somewhere. I also have the Maranatha's first tape...early 70's. I love going down THIS memory lane.

For me.......DANIEL AMOS. They were around in the 70's and they are still playing today. But don't rush out and buy their stuff. It is an acquired taste. They were and still are cutting edge. They also do some other music under the name (I love this one) THE SWIRLING EDDIES. I consider VOX HUMAN, BIBLE LAND and ALARMA to be three of the definitive Christian albums. They really pushed the envelop of what was going on. No one and I mean no one was playing like them.

I have a CD By a group Larry Norman Produced....Q-STONE. From Sweden (bluesy if you can believe it.)

I loved it when Randy Stonehill and Daniel Amos teamed up to go on tour back in the early 80's. They called it the Amos and Randy Tour. BwahhhhH!!!!!

Great Blog! Check out this new Christian band that just released their first album. From what I heard on the samples site, they sound really good.

Introducing the new Christian National Anthem: Guns & Jesus.

Don't forget Phil Keaggy, first in Glass Harp and then on his own. He is truly one of the best guitarists, bar none, and totally anointed by the Holy Spirit!
